Charlene retired from Joplin R-8 School District as an elementary teacher. She also taught at Barry and Jasper County rural schools and Sarcoxie Elementary School.
Hudson worked 25 years for the former Joplin Furniture Co as an accountant and a credit manager.
BIOGRAPHY: He graduated from Avant High School in 1931 and worked for Amorita Oil Co. at Fitztown. In 1933, he went to CCC Camp for one year. In 1934, he rode for a ranch between Walco and Ramona for a year and was employed by Cities Service Gas Co. at Commerce. On March 21, 1936 he transferred to Mooreland where he worked until 1940. He married Mary Knittel on Oct. 12, 1940, north of Mooreland. They moved to Canadian, TX. He was a brakeman for Santa Fe, working until 1944. The couple then moved back to Mooreland. He was employed by the Department of Wildlife Conservation of Oklahoma as a game ranger for 32 years, retiring in 1976. He then worked for Security State Bank in public relations for five years. He was recognized by the State Game and Fish Department and the National Wild Tuirkey Federation for reestablishing the wild turkey back into Oklahoma.
